The Town of Babylon is geared up for another fun filled season of events from summer to spring. Get off that couch and come join us for the many new and exciting events that we have in store for your enjoyment. Take a trip, enjoy a movie, kick back and relax at the pool or beach. Whatever your fancy, the Town of Babylon is sure to come through for you. We'll supply the fun - all you have to do is come.

Trips
August 17 - Smorgasbord at Woodloch Pines - Hawley, Pennsylvania.
Fee is $70. Smorgasbord will be filled with delicious hot and cold entrees. Day will also include planned activities, boat rides, and a wonderful new musical show.

September 7 - Americana Tribute and "1776" - Long Island.
Fee is $77. Come and tour the beautiful estate of William Vanderbilt II before sitting down to a musical about the signing of the Declaration of Independence "1776." A breakfast brunch will be served before the show.

October 7 - Museum of Natural History - New York City.
Fee is $47. Tour the museum and enjoy the many new exhibits. View the Imax movie Kilimanjaro: To the Rooftop of Africa.

October 24 - Millennium Theatre Presents "Daniel" - Pennsylvania.
Fee is $110. Visit the beautiful countrysides of Pennsylvania, enjoy a buffet luncheon in Lancaster, and then on to view "Daniel" in the spectacular Millennium Theatre.

November 2 - Peddler's Village - Apple Festival - Pennsylvania.
Fee is $59. Spend the day in Peddler's Village and enjoy the 80 specialty shops. Live entertainment and a pie-eating contest will be part of the festivities as well as a brunch at the famous Cock & Bull Restaurant.

December 9 - L.I. Mansions and Lights - Jones Beach.
Fee is $71. Come and visit Tudor Revival Mansion, which will be magically decorated for the holidays. Enjoy a late lunch at a famous restaurant and then it's off to see the spectacular holiday lights show.

Other Events
July 9-August 15 - Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday Nights - Youth Program for Teenagers ages 12-16
Cedar Beach 7-10 p.m. In-line skating, beach volleyball, handball, basketball, music, special events and other recreational and sporting activities. Transportation will be available. Bus stops at Town Hall Annex and UNAYO.

July 25 and August 15 - Family Game Night
Babylon Town Hall Lawn. Family trivia, sports contests, Name That Tune and more. Prizes to be awarded.

August 3 - Freestyle Swim Meet
Phelps Lane Pool, North Babylon. Registration is in the morning 7:30-8:00 a.m. and warm-up will be at 8:00 a.m. Competition commences at 8:30 a.m. All Town of Babylon residents from children to adult are welcome to participate. There will be different competitions offered to male and female swimmers by age as well as at a variety of distances. Medals will be awarded to top three finishers in each category, and ribbons will be awarded to all competitors.

August 23 - Beach Blast
Overlook Beach starting at 3 p.m. Events are free of charge and include relay contests, games and rides. Music and face painting also available. Throughout the day different bands will also be performing as part of the Babylon Concert Series. At dusk, the 10th Annual Fireworks Extravaganza presented by Bay Fireworks will launch. The fireworks display can be viewed from Cedar and Overlook Beaches. Parking is $10 without a recreation pass and free for residents with recreation passes.

September 20 - Make a Wish Foundation Charity Volleyball Tournament
Cedar Beach. Co-ed teams of at least six players allowed to compete in the Long Island Volleyball Association's 5th annual tournament to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. There is a fee of $35/person to register to play. Free food and drink, live music, raffles, games and trophies will be available.

October 4 - Arts & Crafts Fair
Town Hall, 200 E. Sunrise Highway, Lindenhurst from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. 26th Annual Fair will feature display and sale of arts and crafts items made by some of the area's most talented artisans. Refreshments and musical entertainment by Gino DiNapoli 12 noon - 1 p.m. and Mary Lamont Band 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.

October 11 - 1st Annual Long Island Bluegrass Festival
Tanner Park, Copiague from noon to 8 p.m. Seven bands will be performing representative of the variety of modern bluegrass, from traditional to "newgrass." Tickets: $5 for adults, $2 for children under 12 (kids under 3 are free).

October 30 - 10th Annual Halloween Party
Town Hall Annex, 281 Phelps Lane, North Babylon from 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Town of Babylon children aged 3-7 welcome to attend for a load of fun and games. Tickets available on a first-come first-served basis starting October 20 through October 30, 2003 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Recreation Program Office, Phelps Lane Park in North Babylon.

October 31 - Haunted House
Phelps Lane Administration Building, North Babylon from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Children aged 8-16 allowed to come and tour the House of Ghoul for free if they dare.

December 7 - Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony
Town Hall beginning 4 p.m. Event will feature a parade in which Supervisor Steve Bellone and town officials will be joined by Santa Claus on decorated floats. All residents welcome to attend; there will be gifts for children, costumed characters, musical entertainment and refreshments for all.

April 2004 (date to be announced) - 6th Annual Spring Eggstravaganza
Phelps Lane Park, North Babylon from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Town of Babylon residents aged 10 and under invited to fun and treat filled eggs. Event will also feature musical entertainment, pony rides, games, and an egg find with the Spring Bunny so parents should bring the camera.

Charity Softball, 12th Annual Blind Softball Game - Date to be announced.

Event will be located at Babylon Town Hall Park, Lindenhurst at 7 p.m. Game will feature Babylon's blind softball team, the Long Island Bombers, against the New York Islanders Hockey Team who will compete blindfolded. One can of food/person will be used as admission and all donations will go to the needy. Raffles, prizes, giveaways, food, drinks, and free autographs will also be available.
