The Office of Historic Services collects, preserves and provides access to information and materials concerning Town of Babylon history for the benefit of the Town of Babylon government, residents and other researchers. The Office of Historic Services also manages the exhibits of the Town of Babylon History Museum.

The Historic Services staff is not able to conduct individual g
enealogical or property research.  However, the staff can help to guide research efforts.  Research of the Historic Services collections is available, by appointment.

Town of Babylon History Museum, at Old Town Hall:
The Town of Babylon History Museum has three floors of exhibits related to Town of Babylon history, including the jail cells of the former Town of Babylon Police Dept., the old Town Courtroom and a special exhibit room with an interactive multimedia table.

Opened in 1918, Old Town Hall was the first Town Hall erected by the Town of Babylon, and served as the seat of Town government for 40 years. In 2005, the building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.  After extensive restorations, the Old Town Hall was rededicated as the Town of Babylon History Museum on June 11, 2010.

Days and Hours of Operation: 

Monday to Friday, 10:00 am – 3:00pm

1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month (October to May), 10:00 am – 2:00pm

The museum is located at 47 W. Main Street, Babylon, NY (one block west of Deer Park Avenue).  Free parking is available – space permitting – in the rear of the building, off of Cottage Row. Metered parking is available throughout Babylon Village.
