Councilman Lindsay P. Henry
Early Life
Lindsay P. Henry was born and raised in Babylon. His family has lived there for about 100 years. He is a fourth generation resident of Babylon. His great-grandfather, E.E. Henry, was the Babylon Town Assessor and owned a grocery store on Deer Park Avenue.

Like many south shore kids, Lindsay grew up on the Great South Bay and the barrier beaches fishing, swimming, and sailing. After graduating from Babylon High School, he went to sea, first as a commercial fisherman on Long Island’s distant waters and ultimately as a sailor in the U.S. Merchant Marine. During the course of his years at sea, he sailed in many capacities, from seaman to skipper. Lindsay has sailed and traveled extensively throughout North America and the world, to such far-off places as China, Australia, Canada, and Eastern and Western Europe.

Education
After 10 years at sea, he attended the University of Massachusetts, where he studied ocean science and English literature. He graduated from UMass in the spring of 1993, and began law school at Touro Law in Huntington that fall. Lindsay earned his Juris Doctorate in the spring of 1998, and was admitted to the New York Bar in the summer of 1998.

Lawyers and public service are a tradition and a calling in his family. His grandfather, Lindsay R. Henry, served Suffolk County as its district attorney from 1947 to 1953, as did his father, Patrick Henry, from 1976 to 1989.

Career
After graduation from law school and being admitted to the bar, he took a job with Allstate Insurance representing homeowners and motorists throughout Suffolk County. He recently left the Nassau County firm of Shaw, Licitra, Gulotta, and Esernio and Henry, where he was a named partner, to come home and start his own practice in Babylon Village. Lindsay previously served as the associate village justice in the Babylon Village Court and is currently serving his third term as a Babylon town councilman.

Personal Life
Lindsay lives in Babylon and has two daughters, Sarah and Theresa. They are part of the congregation of St. Joseph’s Parish in Babylon. Lindsay is also an active member of a number of community-based service organizations, such as the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Lindsay remains an avid lover the Great South Bay where he can be found fishing and boating year round.
