Park & Public Renovations
Below is a list of different facilities that have had renovations and what has been accomplished at each park and public spaces:
  • Tanner Park - New Playground, installation of new landscape around the spray park pavilion, established a new lawn area in front of the band shell, new landscaping for the senior’s building
  • Venetian Shores - Installed landscaping around Spray Park, beach hut, and playground
  • Phelps Lane Park - New playground installed, plantings around the ball field area, walking paths around the lake, installation of a patio behind the mansion used for concerts and outdoor events, and fountains installed in the lake for oxygenation
  • Herman Griem Park - Creation of waterfall and surrounding garden, refurbishment of gazebo, and new playground
  • Bolden Mack Park - Installed planting areas and playground
  • Pine Acres Park - Installed planting area around playground
  • Town Hall Park - Creation of waterfall and surrounding plantings, front entrance patio and plantings, and playground
  • Sawyer Avenue Park & Pool - Created new planting beds along the playground and outside the pool facility and building
  • West Babylon Youth Center - Installed new landscape around building
  • Wyandanch Senior Center - Updated planting around building
  • Mount & Essex Crossroads - Construction of planter and plantings
  • Old Town Hall - Installed new plantings and beds around entire facility
  • Copiague Harbor Medians - Updated plantings for each median
  • Scott Park - Refurbishment of entire facility
  • Laurel Road Park - Refurbished ball field and installed new playground and seating areas
  • Michel's Park - Installed new playground
  • North Lindenhurst Pool & Park - Created a new landscape for the building and parking areas
  • Spangle Drive Senior Center - New landscape design for the front of the building
  • Community Down Towns - Installation of planters, hanging baskets, and seasonal decorations
  • Colonial Springs Park - This site was an empty lot that was transformed into two ball fields, playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, playground, planting beds, and water features. The park was created with a garden setting in mind
  • Bulb Plantings - Along the medians on 231 and the cloverleafs on Sunrise Highway from Route 110 to 231
  • Turf Grass Organic Management Practices - This program was put into place to reduce the amount of chemicals used on the fields and open areas in the town parks. The practice uses aeration of lawns, compost applications, over-seeding, about two to three times a year. This creates a better soil base for the turf areas which in turn give you a better lawn
