Corinne DiSomma has spent her entire life living and working in the Town of Babylon. Corinne graduated Lindenhurst Senior High School and, while working as a secretary for a Lindenhurst based company, she earned enough money to pay for her own college education. She received her degree in Business Administration from Suffolk Community College. She has always been active in local politics. She interviewed for the Deputy Tax Receivers position and received the appointment in 1978. That appointment began her career in public service and she has eagerly served the public with uninterrupted service to this day.
After the untimely passing of Receiver of Taxes Carol Canning the in 1999, the Supervisor and the Babylon Town Board appointed Corinne to serve out the remainder of the term for the Receiver's position. Later that year, in her first run for public office, Corinne was elected Receiver of Taxes in her own right.
In Corinne's many years of public service, she has worked with several administrations. She has earned the respect of town officials and residents. During Corinne's first year in office, she initiated a program that now affords residents the opportunity to pay their real property taxes using their Discover card. She continues to bring new and innovative ideas to the Tax Receiver's office.
Corinne holds both the obligation to her office as Receiver of Taxes and her commitment to the property owners of the town in high regard. It is however, the unofficial responsibilities associated with her position and her volunteer work that bring her the greatest amount of joy. For almost a quarter of a century, she has devoted her life to public service. During that time she has been involved with numerous volunteer organizations and she has received an assortment of awards in recognition for her service.
Corinne and her husband reside in Babylon Village where they are currently raising their two children.
Corinne's office door is always open to all residents whatever the need or reason.
