In 2022, the Town of Babylon is celebrating its sesquicentennial 150th anniversary. This webpage will serve as an informational way for the community to get involved in the celebration ad also learn about Babylon's history and the history of elected officials. January 27, 1872 - Town of Huntington vote to decide whether to divide the town.
February 17, 1872 - Assemblyman John S. Marcy introduced to the NYS Legislature the bill, drafted by Judge John R. Reid, to create the Town of Babylon.
March 13, 1872 – The NYS Legislature approved the bill to create the new Town of Babylon.
April 2, 1872 – Voters in the new Town of Babylon elected their first Town Supervisor and Town Board. The first Town Board meeting was also held that day.
