2022 Recreation Permits

2022 BEACH PASS UPDATE: we are pleased to announce that the shipment of 2022 beach passes has finally arrived. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our Parks Department employees, all passes that were purchased online prior to 5/14/2022 will be placed in the mail tomorrow and should arrive in mailboxes by this weekend. Passes purchased online after 5/14/2022 will continue to be mailed throughout the week as verifications are completed. 

If you would like to purchase your pass in person, the Parks Department will be selling actual permits during extended hours at the following locations: 

Tuesday 5/17 Tanner Park 2PM – 6PM 
Thursday 5/19 Venetian Shores 2PM – 6PM 
Saturday 5/21 Geiger Spray Park 10AM – 2PM 
Monday 5/23 Tanner Park 2PM – 6PM 
Tuesday 5/24 Tanner Park 2PM – 6PM 
Wednesday 5/25 Venetian Shores 2PM – 6PM 
Thursday 5/26 Venetian Shores 2PM – 6PM 
Saturday 5/28 Geiger Spray Park 10AM – 2PM

The Town of Babylon Beach Permit gives Town of Babylon residents access to: Overlook Beach, Cedar Beach, Gilgo Beach, Cedar Marina, Tanner Park, and Venetian Shores. This year the Parks & Recreation Department will be offering online and in person 2022 Beach Permit sales!

2022 Town of Babylon Beach Permit Fees: 

Resident: $45 
Senior (60+): $20, NYS Driver’s License Must Indicate an Age of 60+ 
Veteran/Active Military: $20 
Active Town of Babylon Volunteer Fire Department Member: $20 

Required Documents for All Beach Permit Purchases (Online & In Person):

  1. NYS Driver’s License with address in the Town of Babylon. 
  2. NYS Car Registration(s) all with matching names and addresses. **We do not accept temporary car registrations.

Additional Documents Required Based on Your Status as a Volunteer Firefighter, Veteran, Snowbird, or Company Car (Online & In Person): 

  1. Volunteer Firefighter: Town of Babylon Volunteer Firefighter ID Card needs to be uploaded 
  2. Veteran/Active Military: DD214 needs to be uploaded, if designated on license, please indicate that when uploading, or Active Military ID Card. 
  3. Snowbird: Snowbird Affidavit needs to be uploaded 
  4. Company Car: A letter on company letterhead (must be typed) stating: 
    1. That the resident has been assigned to that particular vehicle for the year and that they are allowed to use the vehicle for recreational purposes. 
    2. The vehicle information (year, make, model, plate, & VIN#) 
    3. The resident's name listed as sole driver, and resident's address as it appears on the driver's license. 
    4. The company's name and address as it appears on the car registration. 

Replacement Beach Permit Procedure: 

To receive a replacement permit, the original permit must be taken off the vehicle (no photos) & submitted to the Parks Department. Please note that the permit is designed to shred when removed from the vehicle. 

Replacement Beach Permit Steps:

  1.  Write the permit number down
  2.  Remove the permit from the car 
  3. Bring the permit, documentation of the new vehicle purchased/leased (bill of sale or lease agreement), and the permit number to the Parks & Recreation Department located at 151 Phelps Lane in North Babylon, Monday – Friday, 9 am – 4 pm. 

Online Sales Information: 

Residents with online accounts can purchase the 2022 Town of Babylon Beach Permit online from February 17th to May 31st (Permits will be mailed in May.)

Online Sales Procedure: 

  1. Create/Login to your Town of Babylon Parks account. Click here to create an account/login.
  2. Upload your Driver’s License & Car Registration. If you uploaded these documents last year, and they aren't expired, you do not need to upload them again. Click here to upload. 
  3. Purchase your 2022 Beach Permit. Please have your license plate number on hand while completing your transaction. Click here to purchase.
  4. After you purchase your Beach Permit, your documents will be reviewed by the Park’s Staff. Your 2022 Beach Permit will be mailed to you in mid-May. 

Click here to create on online account. By creating an online account, your household will be given "non-resident status." Your account will remain as a "non-resident" until you have uploaded proof of residency documentation to your online account (Driver’s License with address in the Town of Babylon). Once proper document(s) are received, please allow 3 to 5 business days for your status to be changed to "resident." You will receive an email once your status has been changed. You will then be able to make online purchases.

***If your license and/or car registration haven’t expired, you do not need to upload them again. If you purchase your Beach Permit and see an expired document, you will receive an email notifying you to upload a new document.

How to check the status of your Beach Permit purchase? 

  1. Sign into your online account. 
  2. Click your last name in the upper right corner of the screen to open up the menu (desktop version) or click the three lines, top left of page to open up the menu (mobile version). 
  3. Click the arrow under "My Account" 
  4. Click "My History" 
  5. Scroll to your current year's beach permit and click "Questions". If your documents have been viewed and verified, a verification date will be entered. If your permit has been mailed, the mailing date will be entered.

In Person Sales Information:

In person (drive-thru) purchasing will begin in May at various parks throughout the Town. 

In Person Sales Procedure: 
If you would like to purchase your beach permit in person, bring your NYS Driver's License and NYS Car Registration (with matching name and addresses in the Town of Babylon) to a drivethru location listed below. Please note, sales are credit/debit card only. American Express is NOT accepted.
