[ARCHIVED] Deer Park Junior Community Association Donates Free Library in Honor of Officer Joseph Piagentini

Babylon Officials Join Deer Park Community Members for Tiny Library Unveiling

Town of Babylon Deputy Supervisor and Parks & Recreation Chairman Tony Martinez and Councilman DuWayne Gregory were recently on-hand as the Deer Park Community Association had a free library installed at the playground at Fabio Buttitta Park in Deer Park. Also in attendance were Suffolk County Legislators Tom Donnelly and Jason Richberg, Town of Babylon Beautification Director Viscel Moore, and Suffolk County first precinct officers Aue and Schieda.

Children who are members of the Deer Park Junior Community Association worked with association leaders to make the library possible. Deputy Supervisor Martinez thanked the kids for their wonderful and thoughtful project that will now benefit many Deer Park kids.

In 2019, the playground at Fabio Buttitta Park was renamed in honor of fallen Deer Park hero NYPD officer, Joseph Piagentini. Members of the junior community association decorated and dedicated the library as a tribute to Officer Piagentini. Members of the Piagentini family, including Officer Piagentini’s wife Diane also attended the ceremony, and Mrs. Piagentini brought books to supply the book exchange.
