Turkey Fry Teaches Residents Thanksgiving Safety

In preparation for Thanksgiving, Councilman Terence McSweeney partnered with Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly and the Deer Park Fire Department to teach residents the dos and don’ts of frying a turkey. Thanksgiving is the number one day for cooking equipment home fires; therefore, and the demonstration conveyed what can go wrong if a turkey is not properly prepared before being fried. 

Don Lynch of Suffolk County Fire Rescue & Emergency Service (FRES) and Town of Babylon Fire Marshal Anthony Cardali were on-hand to demonstrate the proper and improper ways to fry a turkey and the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department was on hand to safely extinguish the fire caused by the improper blaze.
