Town, Village and County elected officials recently gathered at the Lindenhurst Youth Center for the presentation of a $9,360.00 check from the Babylon Industrial Development Agency, which will help the youth center continue providing services that the children of Lindenhurst need.
The Lindenhurst Youth Center, located at 177 South Smith Street has been serving the Lindenhurst community for almost 50 years. With an average of 50 student sign-ins per day, the center needs to ensure they have enough personnel to properly supervisor the children. Their current funding did not meet the needs of the community, so with the help of Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Councilman Anthony Manetta, Village of Lindenhurst Mayor Michael Lavorata and Presiding Officer Kevin McCaffrey, the Babylon IDA was able to help advocate their behalf and found enough local businesses willing to help sponsor additional funding for our youth.
