A section of Marcy Street, between Lewis Avenue and Bond Street, in North Babylon, has been ceremoniously renamed Lt. Thomas B. Smith Way.
The designation honors Thomas B. Smith (1937-2023), a North Babylon resident for over 80 years, Police Officer for 42 years—Babylon Village and Suffolk County Police Departments, and former Babylon Town Historian.
Joining members of the Town Board at the ceremony were current and former elected officials, as well as members of the Smith family who spoke fondly about Lt. Smith and his dedicated service to the Babylon community.
