Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer would like to encourage residents to complete Suffolk County’s Hazard Mitigation Plan citizen survey in order to help assess the area’s needs in response to natural disasters. The survey can be found at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/V3RLXZ5. By completing this survey, residents’ responses will be taken into account as Suffolk County develops its five-year hazard mitigation plan to protect residents and reduce damage to property in the event of natural hazards, such as hurricanes, floods, fires and coastal erosion.
“From Hurricane Irene and Superstorm Sandy to recent blizzards, the Town of Babylon has been hit hard in recent years by extreme weather and dangerous storms,” said Supervisor Schaffer. “I ask that all Town of Babylon residents take part in this survey so that the county’s plan can accurately reflect our Town’s needs. Your participation in this survey could help our Town receive Federal grant funding for important projects that will help lessen the impact of natural hazards, such as housing elevations, beach re-nourishment and backup power for schools and critical facilities.”
