Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer recently joined with Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez and Councilman Tom Donnelly to unveil a brand new sign for the West Babylon Main Street Organization (WBMSO) that was designed by students from West Babylon Senior High School. The creation of the sign, which is located on the southeast corner of Town Hall Park in Lindenhurst, was the product of collaboration between the WBMSO and Mr. Gene Rogovitz’s Graphic Communication class. The experience provided the students with the opportunity to take part in a real-world design process that involved drafting a logo, creating a slogan and editing their designs to form a final product.
The WBMSO is a community group that is comprised of numerous civic organizations and local businesses who are working together to enhance the quality of life in West Babylon. The organization will soon be embarking on their “Pizza and a Message” campaign, which will feature the student-designed logo and slogan on boxes from local pizza places to raise awareness and promote community involvement. For more information on the WBMSO, visit their website at www.wbmso.org.
