For his Eagle Scout project, Timothy R. Vierling of Troop 399, created an Armed Services Memorial to those who served our country in all the different branches of the United States military-- regardless of wartime. Timothy modeled his project after a similar memorial behind the Old North Church in Boston for those who served in the Iraq War. The Armed Services Memorial is completed and is located at Pine Acres Park in Deer Park.
Vierling contacted local organizations in Deer Park, presented his design plan, and through donations and the purchase of military dog tags, brought his project to fruition. The tags have the name of the living or deceased military person and the branch and/or conflict served. Through his Eagle Scout project, Timothy’s message is that he and his community will never forget the dedicated people who have served our country to protect our freedom.
