Callahan Newsflash.jpg

Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer recently joined with Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Councilman Tom Donnelly, and Clerk Carol Quirk to honor NYPD Officer Theresa Callahan, of North Babylon for her selfless acts in the line of duty. Officer Callahan, who serves in the 103rd Precinct in Queens, was recently featured in a PIX11 news story which highlighted her friendship with two young siblings who live in a Jamaica homeless shelter. In the short time she has known Amani and Anthony, Officer Callahan has played an instrumental role in their lives—from sponsoring a Christmas Toy Drive for the entire shelter, to helping their father look for work, to throwing a surprise 8th birthday party for Amani in the shelter’s park. When asked why she does this, Officer Callahan simply replies: “Because I can.”

Supervisor Schaffer presented Officer Callahan with an official Certificate of Appreciation for her acts of kindness and for proudly representing the Town of Babylon community. To view the entire PIX11 coverage, go to http://pix11.com/2016/07/25/hero-cop-with-a-heart/.
