[ARCHIVED] Street Corner Renamed in Honor of Longtime Community Leader, Pastor
Town of Babylon Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez recently joined with Town Special Assistant Terry McSweeney at a street renaming ceremony in honor of Rev. Robert L. Burgess. Burgess, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday, is a longtime resident of Amityville and founded the Grace Community Church on Columbus Blvd. The Babylon Town Board recently passed Resolution No. 865, which ceremoniously changed the name of the corner of Schleigel Boulevard and Columbus Boulevard to “Reverend Robert L. Burgess Corner,” complete with installation of signs above the existing street signs.
Deputy Supervisor Martinez commended Rev. Burgess for his years of service to the community.
