[ARCHIVED] A Message from the LIRR

Please see the following message from the Long Island Railroad:

During the weekend of November 3, The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) will be installing a new grade crossing at Commack Road in Deer Park in the Town of Babylon.  This work is being performed as part of the LIRR Double Track Project which will improve service and reliability on the LIRR’s Ronkonkoma Branch and spur economic activity.  It will reduce delays and enable more off peak service in both directions.

Grade Crossing Renewal – Commack Road

The LIRR will install a new concrete grade crossing at Commack Road in Deer Park along LIRR’s Main Line. Work at the grade crossing will take place from Friday, November 3, 11:59PM through Sunday, November 5, 11:59 PM and run continuously through the night. Service will run on normal weekend schedule. The road will be fully closed while the crossing is installed. Temporary pavement will be installed at the grade crossing before the road is reopened to traffic.

Detour Information – Commack Road

Southbound: Proceed south on Commack Road to Long Island Avenue, make a right and proceed west to Carlls Path. Make a left and proceed south to Grand Boulevard.  Make a left and proceed east to Commack Road.

Northbound: Proceed north on Commack Road to Grand Boulevard, make a left and proceed west to Carlls Path, make a right and proceed north to Long Island Avenue. Proceed east on Long Island Avenue to Commack Road.
