Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez and the rest of the Town Board recently honored Jaylin Williamson of Amityville High School, who was named as the 2019 recipient of the Suffolk County Highway Superintendent Association Scholarship. Williamson received the scholarship as a result of the annual essay contest, which is open to all high school seniors residing in the Town of Babylon who are majoring in fields related to public works, public administration or engineering. To be considered, students were required to submit a brief essay describing why they are seeking their career choice and were also encouraged to describe a recent government project in the area that impressed them or one that they would like to see become a reality.
