Hundreds of local runners recently took to Ocean Parkway to participate in the annual Run for the Warriors, hosted by Councilman Terry McSweeney. Participants of all ages included veterans, their loved ones and others who wanted to honor the sacrifices made by the members of our military overseas. A number of wounded veterans participated in the run, which included three routes of varied distances (10K, 5K and 1 mile), by riding hand and foot cycles. Many participants honored loved ones in the military, some of whom gave the ultimate sacrifice, by carrying signs and American flags as they completed the course.
Several local elected officials attended the race, including Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Councilpersons Jackie Gordon, Anthony Manetta, New York State Assemblyman Mike LiPetri and several local village officials.
