There are four elected councilmembers in the Town of Babylon. We do not have councilmanic districts, therefore every councilmember may assist all constituents.
The Town Councilmembers work with the Supervisor to introduce and vote on legislation (proposed laws) having to do with all aspects of town life, set policies and develop an annual Legislative Agenda for the Town of Babylon. They oversee the town budget and capital improvement projects. Councilmembers participate in monthly meetings to adopt policies and address issues and concerns in the community. The Town Councilmembers respond to constituents' concerns at neighborhood meetings, through written correspondence, telephone communication and staff assistance. They also serve as chairpersons for various departments and committees throughout the Town.
The Town Council meets one or two times a month. A listing of the meetings is located in the recycle calendar on the first page or on our Upcoming Public Meetings page.
The minutes from Town Board meetings are available to the public after they are adopted, which is usually at the following Town Board meeting. Please go to the Town Clerk’s office to FOIL minutes. Town Board meetings can be viewed on the Town of Babylon YouTube channel, during and even after a meeting, where then the minutes might not even be needed.
